Gin description
The term navy strength came about in the 18th century thanks to British Royal Navy. Gin was immensely popular and all ships carried it aboard. When physicians realized that lime juice could help prevent scurvy and quinine could ward off malaria, sailors reluctant to take their medicine found it mixed in with their daily ration of gin. The Gin Gimlet and Gin and Tonic were born. It was also discovered that at a certain proof, gin would ignite gun powder. That proof was 114 and anything less was rejected. The term navy strength stuck. Our UA is a juniper forward gin with hints of coriander. There are citrus notes throughout of lime and orange with a hint of cardamom on the finish. The higher proof gives bigger body and flavor to the gin and gives more dimension to a cocktail. Gin connoisseurs will delight in this over-proof gin.
