The Ferdinand's Saar Dry Gin is special in that the alcohol is infused with Riesling from the Zilliken vineyard near Saarburg and continues to be flavored with over 30 botanicals from the vineyards and home-grown. The namesake of the brand is the Royal Prussian forestry master Ferdinand Geltz, who lived until 1925. He founded the successful winery, which initially continued his daughters and later his two granddaughters. One of them, Marianne Geltz, married Fritz Ziliken in 1947. The daughter daughter Dorothee completed a degree in viticulture and oenology, to take over the management of the company in August 2007. She is assisted by Master Distiller Andreas Vallendar, who creates the products of Ferdinand's in the nearby Avadis distillery of the Riesling, Alcohol and Botanicals. The 5-year jubilee edition presents itself in a cork-sealed and tissue paper wrapped porcelain bottle, which is limited to 3000 pieces.
