Gin description
Made possible by Calum Speirs (12), Calums Cabin is a charity on the Isle of Bute supporting families who have a child suffering from cancer; offering holiday accommodation to make special irreplaceable memories along with “Homes from Home” in Glasgow for families while their child is enduring treatment. In collaboration with Isle of Bute Gin distillery, Calums Cabin Gin is a fresh floral gin made with botanicals found across the Isle of Bute, including thistle root which grows on grounds surrounding Calums Cabin, adding a distinctive rich peppery flavour. On the nose, the thistle root provides Calums Cabin Gin a spicy earthiness as well as a hint of almond or walnut. That rich and spicy pepper flavour is found when tasting the gin, along with a background of crisp citrus from the lemon and notes of orange from the coriander, all combining to create a more classic citrusy character tempered by less traditional earthy, autumnal notes.
