Gin description
Smeaton’s Bristol Method Dry Gin recreates an original, handwritten recipe from the 1870s discovered in the Bristol Archives on Smeaton Road. After researching and analysing the recipe, William Betts and Michael Palij MW, set about faithfully recreating the gin according to the Bristol Method of bespoke distillation. This method distils each botanical separately varying the maceration, temperature and cut for each of the eight botanicals before blending and resting. Although much more time-consuming, the Bristol Method allows the distiller to harvest and distill each botanical in season including Macedonian juniper in August and Valencia Late oranges in December. Smeaton’s is based on an original recipe and produced using a unique method of distillation. It is bottled at 45% ABV.
