Gin description
The unique combination of wild sloes and juniper berries gives Unterthurner Sloe Gin its characteristic complexity. The juniper berries provide the typical earthy aroma, while the sloes contribute fruity-bitter notes. The black pepper gives the sloe gin a slight spiciness. We started making gin with our young cellar master Davide Casagranda in 2016. Two years after the Classic Gin 2016, the Sloe Gin found its way to the shelf. "Sloe" means sloe and is the main ingredient of this gin. The berries, which grow wild in South Tyrol, provide the beautiful purple color of this gin. Together with juniper berries and black pepper, they are macerated and then sweetened. With 28% alcohol volume, the Sloe Gin actually belongs to the category of liqueurs, but is traditionally classified as a gin.
