Gin description
It starts from a gleaming aspiration to give you a gin of singular taste. One that transposes you to a view of hues of blue, where the azure sea blends into a cerulean sky. A sight that we witness every day, here, in the Peloponnese. A desire to give you a savour that captures the vigour of the botanicals that grow abundantly in our surroundings. A flavour of complexity and balance. A sensation that is achieved through an artistry of distilling. An essence that is contrived from our craftship that began in 1895. Naturally, the main melodic line can only be offered by our locally sourced Juniperus Communis. Its tune is accompanied by Angelica, whose agility enhances and supplements the alpha pinene of our star berry. Their harmony is enriched by the delicate zing and bitter sweet tones of the citrus family. The echoes of indigenously grown oranges, lemons and bergamots merge lyrically with Juniper. Just as a cello answers to the sound of a violin, so does the sharpness of our native coriander retort to the enlivening taste of the citrus peels. Next is the peppery trail of Cassia, Cubeb berry and Cardamom. Their spice could match the blazing pitch of trumpets. Their intensity is soothed by the sweetness of liquorice, much like the softness of a harp calms the temper of a French horn. Then there is the rhythmic pulse and beat provided by the root of the Iris Germanica. Its fixative properties bind all the aromas so that the harmony is kept and left to linger. But that Bluebay note is played by our home grown Satureja hortensis – or summer savory – whose aphrodisiacal qualities were discovered by the Ancient Greeks. Its liveliness compares to the jovial noise of the marimba, whose sound always leaves you smiling.
