Gin description
Humboldt Gin was created in close cooperation with the botanists of the Botanischer Garten Berlin. The basis is - as with the whiskeys of the Spreewood Distillers - a fine distillate of German rye. The recipe of the plant extracts (also called botanicals) comprises a total of 21 botanicals. Seven of these 21 botanicals are plants that Alexander von Humboldt collected on his trip to the United States and has made some of them known for the first time in Europe: Epazote, Congona, Angostura and Chinese bark, Guaraná seeds, allspice and a blue sage. All botanicals are first macerated in rye distillate and then gently redistilled for a full flavor in our copper hybrid pot stills.
