Gin description
Like London Dry, Old Tom gin is distilled with the botanicals still present in the still. It is slightly sweeter than London Dry. The name Old Tom Gin is said to come from the signs in the shape of a black cat (an Old Tom) that we saw in the 18th century on the walls of some British pubs. Because of the Gin Craze, the British government attempted to stem the production and distribution of gin with prohibitive taxes, leading to the development of a black market.
