Darkside Gin is the award-winning signature gin in the Tappers range. The name comes from the affectionate term given to the Wirral Peninsula - where it is made - by day trippers from Liverpool who venture over to the ‘dark side’ of the River Mersey to visit quaint seaside towns and villages. Darkside reflects local, good-natured, rivalry and doffs a hat to the region's maritime history. Darkside is a compound gin independently produced in small batches by hand from start to finish in the seaside town of West Kirby, Wirral. The process involves infusing natural botanicals in a premium quality 100% wheat neutral base spirit, to a carefully designed recipe. The aim is to obtain a deep complexity of aromas and a full flavoured body. The resulting spirit has an amber-hue which is retained after delicate filtration so as not to remove any of the intensity of flavour. Darkside contains a delightfully pleasing mix of seaside botanicals, including red clover flowers and leaves, chickweed, and freshly foraged sea beet, which are infused with five other valuable ingredients for an authentic taste of coastal Britain. Darkside has warming, herbal notes and is smooth and dry to finish.
