Gin description
On our adventure finding the best and most special local botanicals for making true Brazilian gin, we were helped by our dear friend Helton Muniz. On his farm he keeps a precious collection of over 1,300 botanicals. Thanks to his inspiring knowledge we were able to give Virga its distinguished and unique Brazilian flavor. After selecting the botanicals and crushing them gently by hand, the botanicals have the privilege to be carefully infused in premium bi-distilled cachaca. The cachaca is handcrafted in a traditional small family-owned copper alambique with the well suited name: Engenho Pequeno. The sugar cane is especially selected by the owner of the alambique for making the gin from the fields owned by the alambique. Overlooked by toucans, we give the botanicals some time to pass their aromas to the liquid and later our master distiller Gabriel slowly re-distills the liquid in a copper still above a wooden fire. After keeping the distillate separated for a few weeks, we add mineral water from the sources of the alambique to get the perfect 90 Proof for making this unique gin. Crafted with love.
