Gin description
A PIECE OF JAPAN IN GERMANY The Düsseldorf district “Little Tokyo” is probably the most Japanese place in Germany. For more than 50 years, the economic and cultural life here has been shaped by the large Japanese community. Just like “Little Tokyo”, our YOSHI NAMA GIN combines German and Japanese culture. NATURE AS A MODEL In Japanese culture, nature is often used as an inspiration. For example when finding recipes in the Keiseki kitchen or when designing tea houses. Nature seems to know exactly what harmonizes with each other. Nature also became the model for YOSHI NAMA GIN. The four main botanicals: juniper berry, sloe, lingonberry and gentian can all be found on the juniper heather. In addition, fresh lemon and grapefruit peels provide a tart, fresh aroma and selected other classic gin botanicals round off the gin. Another special ingredient is saffron, which blends in harmoniously with the aroma profile. The noble spice is sometimes used in Japanese curries for the golden sheen - but in Yoshi Nama for the golden taste! Our 13 botanicals come either from wild collections or from organic cultivation. DISTILLED IN GERMANY Max developed the recipe for our gin through several test distillations on an experimental still, and after more than a year a suitable recipe was finally found. Today the gin is distilled in Bötzingen, in the FAUDE fine BRÄNDE distillery. For the distillation, the botanicals are first placed in neutral alcohol so that the aromas can be extracted. In order to create constant conditions here, we decided on the principle of digestion. The alcohol is heated slightly and kept at a constant temperature. The mixture is then gently distilled on a copper still. During the distillation, we separate the middle course from the tail run very early in order to extract only the fine and desired aromas.
