Gin description

A colourful New Western Dry style gin with a light juniper taste combined with a smooth almond mouthfeel, lingering orange and rooibos. Rooibos is a Fynbos species that is widely cultivated in the Cederberg mountain range of the Western Cape province of South Africa. It is used to create a popular herbal infused tea dubbed “red bush tea” or “bush tea”. This magical tea improves bone health, controls diabetes, improves skin tone as well as prevents kidney stones. When infused rooibos tea adds depth to the well balanced floral orange notes and a lasting honey flavour to this proudly South African gin. Rooibos gin is produced using only the best cane neutral spirit, chosen for its vanilla sweetness and sourced from Kwazulu-Natal. The neutral spirit is re-distilled with our our unique copper catalysation process which results in a smooth clean vodka that becomes Rooibos Gin. Five carefully selected botanicals including orange peel, orris root & sweet almonds are placed inside a basket in a modified section of the still called the carter head and distilled in small batches using a modern technique called vapour infusion. This technique allows the alcohol vapours to pass over the botanicals condensing the complex aromas and favours to form a fresher, more delicate tasting gin. A percentage of un-aged gin is then infused over several days with the finest rooibos tea leaves, then mixed back together and rested, enriching the texture to transform it into a red-amber coloured gin.
